LA PALMERA HOLIDAY SEASON SET TO BEGIN WITH ARRIVAL OF SANTA
Horse-drawn carriage brings Santa Nov. 17
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Nov. 9, 2011) – Santa is coming to Corpus Christi November 17, marking the official start of the holiday shopping season at La Palmera.
Santa will arrive at the mall’s outdoor main entrance near P.F. Chang’s in a horse-drawn carriage at 6 p.m. followed by a special welcome ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, U.S. Marines and community mascots will escort Santa to his throne in Center Court, where he will meet and greet boys and girls.
The evening will also include holiday activities throughout the mall from 5-9 p.m. featuring live entertainment and music, children’s activities, food, giveaways and more. Stages will be set up in Center Court and the food court and include scheduled performances by the Aurora Arts Theatre, Corpus Christi Concert Ballet, Rhythm and Moves, and more. Kids will also enjoy milk and cookies, as well as storytelling with Mrs. Claus near the children’s play area on the upper level.
La Palmera merchants will also be part of the festive atmosphere with demonstrations and specials throughout the evening.
“The arrival of Santa at La Palmera has become a real tradition for Coastal Bend residents,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “Each year, the event has grown in popularity with thousands of excited children and their families on hand for the event. It’s one of our favorite annual events.”
Santa will be on hand in Center Court for photos through December 24 during regular mall hours.
Local residents will also have the opportunity to help local charities throughout the holiday season at La Palmera. Shoppers can take advantage of La Palmera’s charity gift-wrapping service available Friday through Sunday, the first three weekends of December, plus Dec. 22-24, with donations going to participating local charities. Pet lovers can bring their favorite kitty or canine for “Pet Night with Santa,” held the first two Tuesdays of December, with a portion of the pet photo proceeds from those helping local animal shelters. The Salvation Army will also be on site with their traditional bell ringing campaign as well as having their Angel Trees in the mall’s upper level.
