CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (April 19, 2012) – Today La Palmera announced five new stores coming to the mall, all planning to open by late spring.

Construction is underway on  White House Black Market (3,453 sf), the popular women’s clothier, located between Express and Gymboree;  Soma Intimates (2,313 sf), specializing in women’s lingerie, adjacent to Kay Jewelers;  2b bebe (4,885 sf), featuring contemporary women’s fashion, located next to Pac Sun;   Traffic Shoes (1,105 sf) , offering trendsetting shoes for men and women, located on the main level between Aeropostale and Finishline; and  Papaya (6,350 sf), featuring trendy styles for the 16 to 25-year-old crowd, near American Eagle.

Shoppers will also find two current La Palmera merchants on the move. The Children’s Place (3,467 sf) is now open in its new location by Champs, with construction underway on the new Payless ShoeSource location (3,360 sf), adjacent to the new Papaya.

“Traffic and sales remain strong at La Palmera,” said La Palmera General Manager Fred Walters. “Having that strong position in the Coastal Bend retail market means we can attract the top retail and dining options. Additionally, the recent acquisition of the former Staples Center adjacent to La Palmera mall will allow us to continue expanding the quality shopping experience as the center transforms into The Shops at La Palmera.”

Trademark Property Company and joint venture partner Institutional Mall Investors LLC (IMI) acquired the Staples Center on April 11. The center, now The Shops at La Palmera, will undergo rebranding along with a major redesign and renovation scheduled to begin late 2012 with completion slated for 2013. Details are forthcoming on the redesign, which will incorporate sustainable building practices and total approximately 200,000 square feet.  Trademark Property will lease and manage the new center.

TRADEMARK PROPERTY PURCHASES ADDITIONAL RETAIL CENTERS
Retail property located across from company's La Palmera mall

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 11, 2012) – Trademark Property today announced the purchase of two retail centers located directly across from La Palmera mall in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The 15.53-acre Staples Center, built in the 1980s, and the 3.81-acre Mt. Vernon Center, built in the 1940s, will undergo rebranding along with a major redesign and renovation, scheduled to begin late 2012 with completion slated for 2013. The redeveloped center, to be named The Shops at La Palmera, will total approximately 200,000 square feet.

Trademark's joint venture partner on the acquisition is Institutional Mall Investors LLC (IMI). IMI and Trademark together acquired La Palmera in 2008.

"Because of the great success we have had with La Palmera, there is an increased demand from national retailers in Corpus Christi," said Trademark Chairman-CEO Terry Montesi. "The redesign and renovation of this property will allow us to better accommodate those wanting a presence in this market and will also greatly enhance the area and strengthen La Palmera as a major, regional shopping destination."

The new design of the property will complement the design of La Palmera, which underwent a two-year $50 million renovation after Trademark and IMI purchased the property in 2008. Details are forthcoming for the redesign, which will incorporate sustainable building practices. Trademark will lease and manage the new center.

Trademark continues to grow its investment capacity, recently hiring a new Senior Vice President of Investments, John Carl.

"We are seeing disposition activity increase and are poised to be increasingly active in acquiring malls, lifestyle and mixed-use centers nationally, and specialty and community centers regionally," said Montesi.
